Really, asking "what should replace Facebook" is putting things the wrong way around.
A more interesting way to ask the question is, "what did Facebook replace."
People used to build their own websites. People used to have blogs. People used USENET which was truly distributed and un-censorable.
Facebook and Google took the open internet and open standards and monetized and made everything crappy. Enough of that. Nothing should replace Facebook, it's done, stick a fork in it.
If you really want to help Firefox succeed, file a bug on https://webcompat.com/ when you find a broken website. Don't just switch back to Chrome; let Mozilla know there's a problem so they can try to fix it.
When browsers lose market share, they fall into the "compatibility death spiral." Sites don't bother to test, they break, and users flee to the browser that "just works." Mozilla is fighting this battle every day, and it just got harder.
I need y’all to stop what you’re doing if possible, and read this article Dani wrote. Share it. Support indigenous people’s during this super violent months by understanding why these costumes are a problem and checking your peers.
Indigenous women have some of the highest rates of sexual assault and violence by non native men, and the underlying reasonings for being targeted are directly related to ongoing erasure, fetishization and genocide.
